It seems to me, that this is the very first thing what thief should do - annoy. Thief couldn't be able to kill somebody (except lucky backstab on mage ;-) ), but everybody should worry about their belonings, when thief appear. Thief blackjacks not to 'polymorph other' or dispel, thief jacks to grab your shinies. That's what, I suppose, most people think about thief.
Though the situation becomes quite bad, when thief invinsible :-)

P.S. And yes, I still cannot read Urimar's Log about trashchars ;-) Please, help me :-)

So let them be more vulnerable, they must pay for their abilities to steal.

Something like failed blackjacj or steal - 80% of his death, dueskills or healths or something else.

Now wise thief has book with sanc, harden, enlarge, haste, displacement, fly, protective shield.
He has parry, dodge, shield block, deception and recovery. He can choose uncunny dodge and two toughness and become invulnerable.

Yes, and how can he hold you in place, or curse you, or stop you from fleeing? Once a thief is dead, and his spellbook sacrificed by angry mob of murderers, he is back right down to weak.

We cannot compare fully prepared thief with thief with no spellbook etc.

Look at CF, there are thiefs weak like snail, if they fail their attempts to steal - they just die in most cases.

Here thief under sanc and displace just flee and return, and try to steal again, and flee, and return...

No no no, we must stop now. Every class, when fully_prepared, in hands of man with OOC connections, is overpowered.

I am not defending thieves, just saying that most things said about them can apply to any class...

Fighter with sanc potion and harden skin (not hard to get), for example, or transmuter with chromatic (rarer), but you see what I mean?

Fighter can fight, he can't steal. Everyone can protect himself from fighter, just flee (except cleave, yes, though there is one famous trick.).

But nobody can protect himself from robbing, and even if robber has failed his attempt - he is invulnerable, I've described already why.

Nevermind if thief can saly victim or can't, like other classes.

The point is that he can rob people and they can't punish him. In 90% chances.
And it's nevermind is he full-prepared or just have book with two spells. I played thief and I think they are overpowered. I played against thieves and I think they are overpowered. Shapa (Meidot) played thief and he thinks they are overpowered.

That is a point.

For example fighter-likes can't fight without weapons. All weapon are in inventory. So farewell weapons. So use only crap or only that weapon you hold.

Assassin. Well. Anye is a good assassin. Heretic. Sios or Erty are not bad too. But... Meidot comes, rob us, and flee. When I played by thief in Takhisis I did the same.  ;D And I think it's not right...

bj - 2 rounds

crush+bj don't cumulate.

mount - thief use mount and jack you or jack your mount.

thief has harden sanc and displace - he can VERY EASY stay some rounds to flee.

There is no need to jack even, just type loot or type steal. The same result.

What for backstab? Thief steals all your inventory and flee.  :-\

here you should have a mage, who is permanently mastering his spells to write them in your books... You are really Maniacus!!! :o ;D

I think we can leave thieves so as they are...
Anyway there is not so much players (like Maniacus) who has many OOC friends and can permanently have a thief with all spells and steal, steal, steal without any punishments... and if there will appear such person there will be a lot of angry victims who will happily slay the thief at all costs! And Thief will be lootet as well anyway...

Meidot died 1 time, so you don't need to master spells "all" time. Elven mage can do it for hour, not so long, you can also write spells to yourself, spellbook is unlimited thing, hard to trace :), i know, i did it myself.

Shappa was very organized thief like he said himself he spend more then half of life in memorizing spells - and he got REALLY TIRED of it.

so, i doubt we will see such overpowered thieves more in realms - it not bring fun to themselves really, power eat fun and time - that s a balancing rule.

I have uncunny dodge feat.
My dodge and parryes are gagged in mud client.
But i don't think there was any dodge or parry in any of those battles anyway  ;)

Come on! This shows herecy is way overpowered, since kender thief can annihilate through sanc. Thats just f*ckin rediculous. Seriously, there's a better rp for a dark elf in solamnia than a kender in solamnia or herecy.

so I think it's normal payment for thief for his abilities.

Ok so because he was not under sanc, displacement, or harden skin its all good? What about the classes Heretics slay that dont have these powers. You 2 rounded him. The quickest logs ive seen all involve Heretics, and they're quicker than everyone elses logs by a long shot. It is no fun fighting a Heretic, most of the time the fight is over before it starts. Theres no skill needed on the Heretics part and the victim doesnt get a chance to use skill (no i dont consider preparation 'use of skill'). Heretics need thier damage turned down and if people think they are less effective in thier role then, increase thier defense somehow, or change thier role. But i dont think they need defense raised either, I fought Jaslar with my cleric of Sargonnas in form, i actually lasted quite a few rounds because it is stacked in hps but SOMEHOW all the damage i could do was decimate, it was as if he was under sanctuary, and that was with engulf, my flame aura scratched and hit oooooh. Perhaps he is wearing alot of resist fire but if you ask me his defense was plenty and i doubt Urimarrs or any of the others would have been any less. And had i been under harden skin as well the fight would not have been any different. I just would have recalled with more than 27 hps :P

he has spellbane - reduce magic damage.
he has hero+ resists.

So what did you want?

But Jaslar has find vulnerability, so it helps him to lure your resistance.

If Meidot would come to necro - he died in ONE round, not two.

So necros are twice overpowered heretics?

Why do you think if you can't beat heretic without preparions - they are overpowered? just lol.

Come unprepared to my unclanned Morgicler - you will be eaten.

Why all my chars could opposite Heretics? Why Keeno could beat three heretics? It's a question of game skill, not powers, belive me  ;D

Perhaps i should have added, no fun fighting a heretic with an caster class. Atleast if thier damage was lowered and defense raised you'd actually feel like you HAD a fight and didnt just get steam rollered.

Fighting fighterlike class in offensive form is extremely wise.
Being not mounted for a cleric is even wiser.

My Enno could deal with Jaslar on my reraid pretty easily.
I used energy damage type and had nice saves to oppose sting.
All he can do - hide beneath inner guardian.

But now, I see THE WAY heretics can be killed. Even two ways. First one is: alter in defence form tanks heretic and fighterlike one blinds heretic and smashes him.

Second one requires at least 1000 gold for harden skin potions and sanctuary AND mage with water breathe spell for getting displacement.

Totally bullsh*t. Too expensive way.

I wanna know something, it bothers me alot. In form i have 60% resistance to physical damage types. Yet through sanc and this Jaslar still managed to MUTILATE and even worse i think, and i dont remember seeing him use outrage or anything but he could have. Now, when i read up on find vunerability it says that it allows an assassin to find the weakest resistance and exploit it. So if all my resistances are the same, 60% find vunerability should not be an issue here. Now, here is Jaslar stating he has a 50% resistance to fire damage, cutting my damroll of 83 down to decimate. Am i missing something, isnt that alot further than my 60% resistance to physical damage has taken his strikes? Lets not forget too that i am under flame aura (like sanctuary) as well, Which is 50% damage reduction before it hits my physical resistance yes? So basicly how is it possible? And how is it not over powered?

Find vulnerability lowers or even ignores your physical resistance sometimes.
I really hope that you, cleric, won't cry about overpower of assassins...

No i dont think assassins are over powered, i did actually think them weak, perhaps they still are and your heretic benifits make up for it. I still feel something is amiss.

I do not think i would have kicked your 'ass' but that was not my desire. My desire is to have a resonable lengthed fight in which i do not feel i am just there to be pin cushioned at whim. But then i guess we would not have such thins as assassinate and cleave.

fight in form against heretic - it's stupid, so 'learn to play' :)))

I fought enough with my priests against Herecy and suppose all of you to use mount, not use forms, use harden skill and proper damtype of your mace.

Better don't use spells, only summon maybe, just swing, swing, swing, flee, heal yourself and return.

All my victories were in that clue.

Enno died from your inner guardian NOT from your hands, you hide behind him because when I was reraiding and you attacked me, you fled writhing in agony.

Enno never was so strong to kick out any inner gaurdian.. hmm, maybe Takhisis dragon few times, so don't treat yourself like a hero here.
