Title: fighter feats
Post by: dedraelos on April 28, 2006, 09:12:46 am
If you took two mino fighters. Both lvl 35 in exact same gear, but you gave one of them three feats of critical strike and one of them three feats of weapon focus. Which one would attack stronger? Weapon focus gives +18 total damroll correct? Does that come even close to being equal to 50% more damage, even if the 50% isn't on every hit?

You can only choose critical strike twice i think? 2nd and 3rd circles.

Oh, ok. So are the 2nd and 3rd circle feats of critical more than weapon focus? I realize that weapon focus locks you into one type of weapon for the advantage, but this added damage is on every single strike, not just the critical strikes. Over the course of a fight, which will add the most damage?

I would take two criticals. Not sure it can be compared really, but damroll can be gained and gauntlets of striking are really hard to get.  ;D

P.S. Not that i think deathblow and critical hit are the same, just making a point of such a thing as critical hit unavailable other then by gaining this feat.

Rialon, remember times when you (Gjarvah) fought against Vasq (Ajraah), you took crit. hit and Ajraah has three weapon focus feats. He was wearing nonlimited clothes and often brought you close to death ;)

So I suppose weapon focus is better

Well.... Yea, you are basically right. Though it was not close to death, it was more like two cons of deaths.  :P But with proper use of weapons i did manage to outdamage the guy. Also very important thing you forgot! Ajraah was a minotaur and Gjarvah was a draconian. So Ajraah already had deathblow. And we were talking about exactly the same fighters.  :)

Agh yes and one more thing. At that time critical hit did not stack up. Thus it worked much worse then now. So i would argue which feat is actually better.  8)

Erty had critical strikes.
So I would suggest you to choose:
1 - toughen or balance or hide tracks according to your purposes
2 - blind fight (or you can hope to obtain vambracers or porcelian mask)
3 - uncunny dodge for elves, kenders and maybe humans.  for other low-dex fighters - toughen or maybe focus (+16dr) or blinding speed.

my 2 kopeyki

Focus +16dr? What do you mean? The total of three give +18(4+6+8). So last focus gives only +8dr. Or am i mistaken?

4+6+8 for EACH hand.
so wear two small swords with three focuses in swords - and you have 36 additional darmolls.
