Title: idea - how to make roles usable and helpfull for players and imms
Post by: dehucka on September 25, 2006, 09:01:10 am
some feedback about roles:

1. it can be much more easy if write it in "note" engine.
it will be safe for person and for immortals

2. may be it dont need so much control of roles - review, approve. let it be more simple - person write a note with role chapter and can act according with it.

so, main point of control should be - dont act strange for your role WITHOUT EXPLANATION IT IN NOTE B.E.F.O.R.E.!!!

so, white mage, you helped to draconian - wher s your explanation in role-note?

and for now it can be enough - later Immortals can strenghten control

Much easier ? my role was aproved in few minutes. Probably i'm very lucky but as I know that another persons 2 roles were aproved fast too (well maybe a day). Write a role at newbiew ranks and no problems, otherwise it is easily abused. Someone could do anything he found attractive to do writing just few lines before.

AND THiS IS REALLY GREAT.

of course if good person constantly shift from light to darkness Gods will read his explanations and make him neutral, or cut some spells, as frown of Light gods... or such

and it will be whole history of person, wrote by himself.

it can be public - why not? let s all can see at forum roles of everyone, or just may be main points of role (basics).

may be i want to play "second lord Soth"? i start with Knight and then go to wrong path... why not?

it can be weak shadow of real deathknight, with half of skills spells or even lesser with any vulnerabilities - but it will be unique character with unique role, stats etc.

unique mean he should nt have overpower, it can be lesser in strenght then simple classes combinations but still unique.

P.S. idea - may be we should write not role but "Fate"?

public roles is realy bad idea - it will start endless debate like "I read his role and I belive that he breaks roleplay blah blah blah" - lets leave the judjement to Gods.  What concenrs second Lord soth - so do it,  just add to your role and I belive even without aproval if dont act like moron but create a masterpice of roleplay Imms will aprove your role and made you betrayer of light or whatever.

Public roles are silly. How on Krynn some guy will know complete history of your life without ever meeting you, or listening to someone, who interacted with you before? (Though exposing roles on forum post-mortem, like it is done in ÑF and some other muds is planned)

Regarding "second Lord Soths" and the likes: I will gladly tailor your character to any story, if it is interesting and your roleplay impresses us all. In exceptional cases I will even code things personally for you.

Roles are roles and not fates :) They are essentially an OOC contract between you and immortals that allows controlled bending of rules to fit your roleplay intentions. Still, nobody denies you from using notes/role as your personal journal/diary/whatever.

We will consider automagical approval... Hmm.. We will.

Nui, don't take away from me the pleasure to read some roles, please? :-*

Honestly, sometimes I feel a strong desire for public some chapters, they are really amazing! But I have no right for it, don't I?

Some roles have secret information, which are forbidden for everyone to know because then all attempts to follow them will fail. A small example: "...Fooling other people makes him feel smart and important..."

May be we could post some roles after character's death?

Maybe some parts of roles to post on forum ?
I don't want my role to be posted :)
My role is only for me and one more person ;)

For now, I think the current system is perfect. When I was logging in each day (hope these times will ever come again), I was rarely seeing any unapproved roles (Luni works well :)), one-two Immortals can handle (read carefully) 20 roles per day easily.

Automatic... Hmm, Nui, have you already written the artificial intelligence with IQ of a human? Sorry didn't see you for 2 days... ;)

As for publishing, no, we don't have right to publish the roles, even after death, they are private. Their authors, though, can do whatever they wish. (For example, post them on RP Discussions board, it was actually desined for these things).
