Title: ooc channel Post by: strange_dude on January 22, 2007, 01:38:57 am its closed by default, probably open it? or even implement a comand to send a requst to people for opening. Sometimes you want to greet some guy with a name you remember from the past or just tell some words of respect for outstanding roleplay, but cant because of closed by default OOC channel. And I dont like to use freaky you tell XXX 'OOC: ....'
Title: Re: ooc channel Post by: Matthew on January 22, 2007, 02:21:12 am Then dont, i would prefer not to see it, if you want to compliment peoples outstanding roleplay dont use ooc in game. You can compliment to your hearts content here in the forums.
Title: Re: ooc channel Post by: Proph on January 22, 2007, 10:23:44 pm I usually just ask them if they "speak of things outside this realm". You stay in char but if they know OOC channel they will usually open it or at least tell you why they won't. If they don't know the OOC channel then I tell them bluntly "type ooc".
It's not my favorite thing to break roleplay, but sometimes you find a good friend from the past, or you just have to help noobs out and even teach THEM to roleplay. I often tell them about things like setting aliases and just help them get comfortable with the MUD (if the need is obvious). I also get to find out who they are IRL just a little bit and interact some. Many of them don't know about forum, and probably find the MUD a bit more fun knowing there are actual people behind the chars that want to help them out; not just some sterile fantasy fanatics saying "Thou art a dumbass." And also, plenty of noobs roleplay well. Title: Re: ooc channel Post by: Bacuha on January 23, 2007, 12:55:22 am IMHO, OOC channel should be turned on by default.
Players can turn it off and it will be clean that they dont want to use it. Personally I need it mostly to help newbies (who did not turn on newbie after rank 10) or to ask OOC-talkers to stop it :) They usually have ooc channel in default position :) Same thing with newbie channel. Why not leave it turned on after 10? Its not hard to turn if off. We all have to type color;brief;affcolor and such anyway :) Title: Re: ooc channel Post by: K0nunG on January 23, 2007, 11:18:20 am As for me, I believe that it should be removed at all, same about tell. I'm not sure how such commands could work ic, its rather better to write personal scrolls, arrange an appointment and than have a conversation in full-RP style without *frowns* *rofl* etc etc 8)
Title: Re: ooc channel Post by: strange_dude on January 23, 2007, 12:20:27 pm Konung it will work right after solace will have ~80-100 players online average
Title: Re: ooc channel Post by: master on January 23, 2007, 01:27:21 pm Talking of ooc, i have one suggestion too. Well, it is not possible to use ooc if a person is sleeping, and i dont see why it is so. I think it would be alright to ooc with person who is sleeping because it is not important for ooc if person is sleeping or now. Notice that it is possible to use gtell while sleeping too.
Title: Re: ooc channel Post by: Matthew on January 23, 2007, 04:25:10 pm I also dislike gtell :P
