Also, it is strange for a half breed to have same resistances/vulnerabilities of a pure race... and some classes should not be available to them. Kenders are quiet comedy characters in DL books, and I cant recall any famous half-kender to understand the stereotypical behaviour of such hybrid. Or its a simple kenders substitute for serious people who like to play very serious calm-minded kenders-assassins ? What is half-kender outcast? Sounds idiotic to me.

There is difference in RP plane. Kender, who memorized few spells is one thing and kender, practicing magic is another. PS Conclave (or how that organization is called in english) would never allow kenders to gain any part or arcane knowledge in DL world - Im pretty sure of it. P.S. The immortals make a pretty strong point of saying this is a LOOSELY based DL diku MUD. That's why you can (or could) kill Caramon in two hits and there are stevie nicks songs on a paper in emerald forest. Ya can't really have such a strict standard for everything. I've said again and again, your personal opinions on what a character and race *should* be when it comes to class/clan are just that, opinions. Who says that all kenders act alike? What if a kender was raised by a group of wild elf druids who never told him what normal kender were like? Would he still be like the standard "kender" from the DL stories or would he be someone completely different yet still having the genetic makeup to refer to him as a Kender. Its not MINE opinion, its opinion of Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, authors of DL world. Thats how they've created it. Races in Fantasy world differs from human races. I strongly belive that differences between chinese, african and european children are minor. But elf and minotaur are differens species! Like dog and wolf. There is one russian saying: "no matter, how long you feed the wolf, he will still look at the forest". Wolf will never become a dog, no matter how much you train him. And kenders are born to be infantile wanderers with no sence of ownership, its their nature. They cannot overcome it. They also biologically have no fear. Zraz is right, its comic race. And that "this kender was brought up by minotaurs and now he is grim and silend beast assassin" is total bullsh*t, sorry. A member of a race, educated in other society looses his culture, but not his nature. And about how much DL world have in common with Solace. I ask Imms to judge us here. IMHO the story with Ezus proves Solace MUD to be fully based on DL world and that Imms want players to roleplay this world. And things like Caramon are, IMHO, just a side effect of game mechanics. You also just stand up after DEATH and run to your corpse, right? There is no reason not to roleplay in that. But I made a few corrections to kender/half-kender races: Kenders can now be only good, they no longer can be assassins also. Half-kenders cannot be evil now, that takes care of necromancer/outcast half-kenders. As for kender mages/priests.. ahem.. DL books feature a few exceptions from the general rule that kenders have too short attention span to actually study some arcane. As of now they already have pretty poor stats for spellcasting class. But what do you mean kenders are good-only now?! I love Evil Wizzards! I love begging draconians to do something EVIL. And I love taunting knights sometimes, they look so IMPORTANT ;) I think most kenders are neutral just becouse of their curious and infantile nature. Half-kenders and proper kenders cannot be part of Herecy, cannot be assassins just thieves, and so on... Why are all immortals seeing the hate for magic as a bad/evil thing? Why only assassins have to declare themselves as either good or evil? The path of assassins is balance.

And this whole jazz with the kenders...i've been over this before when they allowed kenders to join solamnia. Same deal with kender mages...Just as conclave would never allow kenders to practice magic, solamnics would never put their honor and reputation in the hands of a kender.

At this point in time, according to helpfiles at least, Kender cannot join the Tower or the Solamnic Knights (The helpfiles now actually very specifically state which races are able to apply, rather than leaving it to guesswork) |
