there is an idea..
rename assassins to monk or something like that, since they're damned martial arts warriors. Ninjas.

make thieves able to choose specializations, one of those should be assassin. Assassination goes there.
Will make thieves more playable, just need to do something with steal skill since it is too damn overpowered :P

There could be trap thief, fighter-like thief  and others...

sems i played Baldur's Gate 2 too much xD

I once visited CF cite and was stunned by amount of different thiefs types  there (you know, thiefs are my favorite). But I think Solace have more importants things for our Immortals to work at. Like rewriting eq base and implementing bards ;)
Current thiefs are just fine IMHO.

they are overpowered now.
nice blocks, book - they are unkillable and they can steal everything.

yes, steal is annoying, but if remove memorize skill from thieves (for example) all be ok. Even Critic will say they are underpowered ;)

I can give you many ideas, but i dont see any imm feedback on those. So i dont want to do some useless work.

Long long time ago I was suggesting to turn assassins into Chinese kung-fu monks... Chemosh said "no", luckily for Solace :)

Yes, assassins/thieves/martial artists need rework, I agree. But, the ideas need to be DLish as much as it's possible (just for example, "barbarian" instead of "monk", with some consequences). It would be cool if you generated them (the real well-worked ideas, not the arrows on battlefield map - pedestrians go there, eqestrians attack from flanks...) :)

Thiefs are not over-power at all. They are nearly invulnerable (when prepared) and can steal, yes. But they nearly cannot damage also :) And cannot hold you.

invulnerable - cannot hold = overpower

And they do enough damage.
