Title: Huge ambush bug Post by: Kolin on March 31, 2008, 11:04:15 pm Rangers can ambush any blind opponent regardless of terrain.
Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: omledufromage on April 01, 2008, 01:08:35 am Oh my... that was a bug? Ops! ;D
Joking ;D Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: Kage on April 01, 2008, 07:46:52 pm - I dont think this should be a bug. You are blind...he can prepare any type of assault now. does he need a bush to cripple you? The bush just made him unseen in his attack. Now u are blind and he is unseen.
Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: deda on April 01, 2008, 08:07:24 pm Then same should be applied for assassinate - if victim is blinded, no need to prepare the room. Eh, wistful thinking... ;)
Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: gejlord1 on April 01, 2008, 09:36:21 pm Whole concept on how assassinate works today is a BUG.

Well check the echoes when someone uses ambush. I was with a ranger, and he was ambushing some mermaids.... no trees nearby but leaves were flying everywhere. Either the echoes should be fixed, or no ambushing blind people. Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: Kage on April 02, 2008, 02:27:31 am - I should be able to assassinate a blind person without hiding... So ? Maybe can change the echoes but the point of an ambush is the unexpected thus extra damage from the rangers skill...or else you just step out from your cover and attack. The leaves, bushes, and trees dont give the extra damage..just the unexpected advantage...similiar to a blind person.
Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: omledufromage on April 02, 2008, 02:55:32 am My two cents here:
Ranger's abilities are above natural in the wild, and only in the wild... If he were to be able to ambush people out of the wild... then so would anyone else, if we follow the line of thought that the hunted simply cannot expect from where the attack comes. When blinded, your fighting ability is greatly decreased.. but you can still hear your enemy. I interpret ranger's ambush skill as the power to surprise your enemy from somewhere he didn't expect you to come, which is not possible out of the forests, cause he doesn't have such empathy with non-forested regions. Besides... its too over to let ambush work outside woodland areas. And please... lets not get back into the assassinate discussion. Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: Kage on April 02, 2008, 06:50:06 pm Quote If he were to be able to ambush people out of the wild... then so would anyone else - other classes simply dont know how to ambush to put it frankly. Perhaps reduce its effectiveness but it should still be possible. Unless the ambush states he is striking his foe with a tree branch ...he is just taking advantage of an unprepared foe with his knowledge of how to ambush unexpecting victims. In the wild he simply has a greater advantage to do this with camouflage. Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: omledufromage on April 03, 2008, 01:11:58 am Maybe it is not a bug then... but I am still unconvinced and I still think ambush should not work away from forested regions...
Although now that you mentioned this bug... I think I remember long ago being able to ambush blind mermaids... but obviously... not taking advantage of what I thought to be a bug. I mean... it covers panther totally... who needs no lagged camouflage when you can just dirt/eyejab your enemy and ambush(drive)-ambush(drive)-ambush(drive)- KILLED! Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: Quino on April 03, 2008, 01:32:45 am I'm not a coder to clarify but imo it's a bug.
And I think it appeared after fixing http://solace.i-read-you.ru/forum/index.php/topic,4291.0.html Title: Re: Huge ambush bug Post by: deda on April 03, 2008, 03:44:04 am So it's moq's fault?!?!?!? Darn that pet priest! ;D
