Sure there could be some kind of way to do other kinds of damage... but I don't think it should be so simple.
Perhaps return 'seasonal hand'. I don't know how it worked, but I wouldn't make damtype change. I would make fists carry the possibility of burning, freezing, shocking... etc... just like weapons such as Staff of the Sun, that sometimes burns the opponent, and in some situations when that happens, blinds them.
