Title: Harpoon
Post by: Lelik on March 12, 2025, 07:03:35 pm
Being immune to weapon damtype in the end you've been caught by harpoon and got "Harpoon wound" affect with damage from bleeding.

You are unaffected by the damage the harpoon would inflict, but you are still susceptible to its effects (bleeding).

Please, stop spam in every thread. Try boneshatter, bleed etc first.

It's not spam; it's an explanation. Not every skill is implemented the same way.

Are you this skill implementor? Tell me, please, the difference between bash and shield bash or bleed and harpoon?

The difference is that you're stacking low-tier skills against high-tier ones—like comparing a basic fireball to an enhanced fireball. They function differently, and they've been this for ages. The real issue here isn't how skills operate; it's that things aren't working in your favor, so you're throwing a tantrum on the forums, begging for changes. Classic crybaby behavior.

If there were no damage done how could bleeding appear in first place?

First of all try to think what is immunity and unaffected to something.
Second, that's not correct to compare "fireball" and "enhanced fireball", maybe by names only. Fireball is AoE spell. Better to compare with "cone of fire" as "high-tire" spell with the same mechanics.
Third, even comparing fireball, enhanced fireball and cone of fire you will be unaffected to these spells and affects when you're immune to fire!

Shield spec and spear with shield usage was implemented three months ago. Nobody (with a few exceptions) used spear spec "for ages" because it's crappy. Moreover I bet you've never tested neither spear skills (by meaning as cross slice, boneshatter, bleed) no shield bash (the same with bash mechanics) to immune persons.

I write here for Sirrion, not to discuss and argue with you. This is definitely a bug.

Don't judge others by yourself. Just reread your posts here.
BTW this is one of my favorite:
- khiren, arpade - please get lost as soon as possible, you are not welcome in this game. I am highly disappointed I spent my time and raw money to please sh*t-throwing monkeys like you two.

Blackwind deals a specific type of damage (negative, if I recall correctly) and includes three malediction spells. You might be immune to negative damage, and negate its damage, but you're still vulnerable to the maledictions based on your svs. The same applies to the harpoon—you can resist its damage type, but the effect still applies if you fail svs.

If you want to write to someone, use messages. This is a forum, and anyone can respond.

This skill has two components: the first is damage, which checks resistances, and the second is the effect, which checks saving throws. You can be immune to one, but the other still depends on a roll of the dice.

Yes, of course. It is how it is implemented in the game terms.

However it does not respond to how harpoon damages and makes the victim bleed in reality: if there is no damage done there is no wound and thus there is no bleeding.

It's why this in-game implementation looks like a bug.

Whether it's a bug or a feature depends on the perspective of those interpreting the code and designing the game. I'm simply explaining how it works.

From my perspective, the harpoon skill successfully hit the target. While the target is immune to the damage type, the bleeding effect was still applied because the harpoon landed successfully.

It's absurd to retain a bleed from an item that couldn't do any damage to you. It's a bug or its dumb af.
