The error occurs when the platinum dragon shield spell prevents chill touch affect of freezing weapons:

The frost king's freezing bite MUTILATES you!
The presence of Paladine protects you from the frost king's .

Without the spell, it would look like

The frost king's freezing bite MUTILATES you!
The cold touch of ice covered axe of the frost king surrounds you with ice.
