According to the help file:

 Keywords: 'Shuriken'
----------------------

   Syntax: shuriken <victim>

With this skill an assassin may hurl specially crafted discs of sharp
metal at a victim. The assassin must be carrying a shuriken at the time,
either in his/her hands or in inventory. When it is thrown the shuriken is
lost, but if successful the shuriken also strikes for considerable damage.

We can conclude that this skill was poorly designed from the start.

No one is using it, and it lacks scalability or repeatability.

The problem depends on actually carrying shurikens in your inventory. This is a crippling requirement because you can carry only so much.

The damage caused is physical and insignificant.

What I am suggesting is to remove the requirement of actually having to carry shurikens in your inventory.

Why? Because it borders right with mages having to use components for their spells, which they currently don't have to. This would level the plain field.

Next, scale the number of shurikens that an assassin can throw at the target based on the level.

For each <yet to be determined> level, the assassin can throw one more shuriken at the target.

The target has a chance to dodge or magically protect ("force field") from shurikens.

Finally, introduce types of maladictions that are thematically tied to shuriken attacks, giving assassins more tactical depth.

Examples include:
  • Barbed Shuriken → causes bleeding (damage over time, reduced healing).
  • Weighted Shuriken → slows the victim’s movement or attack speed.
  • Piercing Shuriken → lowers armor or physical resistance.
  • Venom-coated Shuriken → poison damage over time.
  • Paralytic Shuriken → chance to stun or reduce dexterity.
  • Shadow Shuriken → blinds the target or reduces hit chance.
  • Cursed Shuriken → lowers saving throws or resistances, making the victim more vulnerable.

I came across a clip, “Ninja Show at Iga Ueno in Japan,” where a ninja throws one, then two, and finally three stars simultaneously.
