Just an addition to usual locate spell to find limited items only. Very similar to usual locate.

Usual places.. mermaids, Sla-Mori, etc...
They can be found EVERYWHERE - I've seen ones in Palanthas - on bard, in Neraka - on Kitiara and so on...
Mobs can be immersively strong or weaklings, they appear just in RANDOM places!

However, you can repop area to make a small chance for book to appear.
Nice way is to supply mage with a spellbooks and he/she can provide you with nice manuals later...

my 35+13 cleric has NEVER seen a prayer book or manual except a manual of mockingbird. Seen a few spellbooks though.

No offence. But how then new players to locate them.

So far I have seen only one manual. And it was on Noggo in Draconian Moors.

Just take a part in the paranoidal race around the world right after reboot Smiley

Indeed manuals tends to load on high and strong creatures, and creatures in moors are rather weak and You have low (or none) chance to find a manual there. Try to look for them in place where stronger creatures lives...
Or You can go somewhere (mermaids, dargaard, saltcove, etc) and repop-repop-repop until You'll find one.

No offense, the current way of gathering manuals is not a fun at all, IMHO =)

When i was a real real newbie i would have expected to find prayer books for instance, on a priest! Or in some place ruined perhaps scavenged by some creature. The last place i expected to see a Manual of the Stag or whatever it was called is on Myth Drannor Paladin! Which is where i have found one. And the last place you would expect to find a a gold 'Libram 'Blood of the Innocent'' is on a mermaid! Is the mermaid an outcast knight?! Its wierd, but once you read up about manuals on the site this is probably what every newbie is thinking.

Radom placements. Does it really matter where they are found? Smiley Just as long as they are found. Smiley By me would be even WAY BETTER!!!

In my mortal life I've seen all prayer books like Portals, Wywern Watch and Guardian Spirit.

One of them traded with some person, other one kindly gifted by Tower Mage, third one found in Magic Forest.

from newbie to newbie, it would be safe and easy to raid pitch black tunel zombies or mermaids north from rosevale, and you should do some 5 reborns to get something.

Eleazor: I have spammed pbt, sla mori, dagaard, mausoleum, myth drannor and other places countless countless times. You dont get to be 35+13 doing nothing.
