Ahh, it's almost impossible to stop a single priest at reraid...

I would like to have a company (one or two groupmates) to prevent priest's attempts, like they prevents Erty's attempts  Grin

Heh. Log is nice, but its not so hard to prevent priest from reraid.
Yesterday Leoren tried, I cleaved two of his shields, He summoned me twice, but finally he recalled
and left his dragon. General and me was waitng for second round but he left realms. Seems the number  of honourable solamnics decreases slowly.  Undecided
I am still cant understand why he left, its rather hard to kill priest when he does not risk.  Huh

Maybe he ran out of time. Or maybe got sick of loosing shields? Shield cleave is kind of lame, people want to have fun playing this game, not loose a shield that took them an hour to pop.

Cleaving shields is one of a few effective tactics against priests, all is fine about it. When a cleric knows there is a chance to lose some good shield he should wear cheap ones from shop instead.

Maybe he just left because he could not do enough damage to overcome Durewn's healing and shrouding, seems more realistic to me.

Ahh, solamnics like kenders adore shinies more than their duty?
What a shame... Some years ago priests used to keep 10-15 unlimited shields in their sack
for a good long fight, and now they dare to claim shield cleaving lame's tactics...

As a priest he is well-protected, he could try at least ones more to ensure that is impossible.
Its my opinion

Durewn had anti-blind, so he can easy wear new shields

Barbarian is one of the weakest outers (barb, tattered man and sentinel), so Durewn did not bad damage to him

So in this case there was no need in strip and shield cleave

As for solamnic, I can agree with point thet shrouded dragon with healing Durewn around is almost non-killable by solo )

Do you believe it is fun to go spend an hour loading a cool shield only to have to wear another? Some skills are rediculously stupid, to the point where if we do not wish to loose something short of dying we have to, drop all items in inventory somewhere safe, remove wrist and finger wear, shield, and weapon before fighting. If you ask me thieves need to loose blackjack and pilfer, and shield cleave/break weapon should be replaced. And probably stop heat metal from forcing you to drop items as well. Taking the time to load stronger items should be rewarded not punished.

Man you crazy? Go play safe muds if you want things like that! What else imms need to do to let you play "pressing bottons with one finger"? remove assasinate, strangle, cleave and strip weapon from fighters, rot from morgion priest, PWK from necromancers, Ambush from rangers? You are just lazy and greedy.

Yes, when I fight Knight i wear chip shiekd and i have now 30 unlimited in backpack, because my fights with knights proved that 15  is not enough. and yes, I removed autocasting shield when was going to fight enemy that can cleave

Shield cleave is fine, wear your nice shields against powerful mobs, use cheap shields against dirty cleavers. Smiley

2Mattew
If you wish to play in a kindergarten, you have chosen wrong MUD for that.
Here everyone is not protected from death and full loot. As for me, I believe, that
if you cant defend equipment you are wearing at the moment - you are not worthy
to wear it.

Well now it seems the topic has drifted to shield cleave. Maybe really nice/limited shields should be a LOT harder to cleave? Makes sense to me (like a shield cleave saves system-esque thing). Destroying a piece of someones armor in combat is a deadly tactic/often devastating loss, imho it succeeds a little often (though I agree crap shields should break easily).

P.S. I didn't say anything about steal or other skills so please disassociate me from that.

You just made my point for me. I do not care about dying, and if i die to someone who can loot im the idiot and i deserve to be looted. For instance i was looted last week by Pachango, a character not even in my pk range when i had died link dead, did you see me whine about people full looting? Nope, not even when i could not avoid dying.

But a thief (which cannot defend his equipment only run and hide then leave the realm, as they always do.) can take VERY nice items from you without killing you, break weapon/shield cleave and heat metal can also. Twice now i have had autocast taken from me without even a single blow exchanged, it took a long time, preparation and skill to obtain and 40 seconds for the thief to take it from me without even a fight. I am not here to have my time wasted in such a way and honestly, I am ready to start flagging people who steal from myself and any friend for death no matter what character im playing.

Hey, my five cents for thieves. Aye, they can steal and hide and so on, but playing a thief in Takhisis, I dont honourably steals shinies from inv, just gold (hmm, I must use steal somehow *wink*), but thieves, holded by any stupid bash or fogged cant survive so easily  (even with displacements and so on) as for example priest or knight. So its a balance. If you dont agree, Matthew, make a thief and play. You'll see that thief have as much advantages as disadvantages, as any class (I hope we have balance nowadays, do we? *wink*).
As far as I know there was (is?) break weapon skill. And crystalbrittle spell (which broke weapon) abjurers have.

Shield cleave is fine. Takes a second to replace the broken one, and the lack of your favourite shield in your hands, while it is safe in inventory, is not a big disadvantage. Thief- verry irritating, sure. But such is life. Your shinies are not safe. Have you ever seen break weapon or crustalbrittle work in a battle? I have not. Have not used both of them for a while, but i doubt they improved over the last several years. They can not break anything, except crappy weapons, making them useless skill/spell. If you do the same to shield cleave, it will be useless skill also. The main point of shield cleave is not for you to loose your item, which gives autoheal, extra saves or health, but for you to loose shield block, which is far worse( for the course of battle i mean).

Thieves are not cheating. Thieves is thieves, part of life. Learn to deal with them, please.

Thieves have a role but nobody plays it, a thief today stole 4 items from 2 of which were of absolutely no use to him. Nobody hired him to steal them and he obviously didnt need gold cause he took none. If the players cant control themselves the skills should be removed or changed. But very well, i will 'deal with it' my own way.
