Obnoxious IRC whining alien dog

I've been practicing dash with my beastie(s) and noticed something strange: when in shadows and dashing in certain direction, it takes about one second to enter shadows again after a succesfull dash... Isn't that a bit too long? Isn't dash supposed to an instant skill? Why then such a lag after it?
