An enraged duergar says, 'Ack! Ye will not be alive long enough to tell them!'
An enraged duergar draws a wicked axe from the back and attempt to cleave you in a half.

You have found the culprit behind the drought! This evil looking dwarf was
busy adding the finishing touches to the dam when you interrupted his work.
He shouts in anger and fumbles for his weapon, spitting a curse at you. His
stocky body looks strong and there is a dangerous look in his eyes. How did
this dwarf get down here, past the elvish guards and sentries into the heart
of the town? Such questions must wait, for now you are fighting for your
life.
An enraged duergar is in perfect condition.

notice he is carrying no axe but still attempts cleave when you enter the room.

Also this statement "An enraged duergar draws a wicked axe from the back" is a little strange/vague. Maybe you could change it to "draws a wicked axe from his backpack" or "draws a wicked axe from the back of the room".

Your back would be a good place to keep an axe, in a holster or thong of some sort.

Yes, but if you have an axe secured to your back would you say "let me get this axe from the back"? No. From his/my back would make a little more sense, but even that sounds like he's pulling out an axe blade that was buried in his flesh. I still think it should be more specific.

Mebbe he's just an effin gangsta?  It would explain why he's enraged(j/k)
