I remember trying to do the same against some Takhi invoker, and when failed to strangle him, the dragon and the invoker nearly stomped me...

After strangle failed i fought for a minute, dragon did nothing. I fled use some potion and dashed in again with tiger claw and again, dragon did not attack me until Bhuul ran away.
