Consider clans closed for now. Write a role indicating you'd love a certain clan; you might be inducted at some point (don't worry about your level).

Coming soon: a solution for solo mages level grind. Multicharring is NOT allowed (see above about following all rules).

Cheers!

-  Here is my opinion, although this was fun (not for prey I assume)...I believe either remove memorize spell skill from thief alltogether or make some sort of uniform spell level restriction.  Im not quite sure how a spell like blink is removed (low teen spell) but meteor swarm and vapour chain is allowed (high level and must be unlocked).  These offensive spells are high level and must be unlocked through elemental mastering.
If spells wont be taken from thieves thats fine...but at least put them in manuals or make them realistic.  No sanctuary and displacement I agree,  maybe haste , blink and some others are better exchanged back for spells like meteor swarm, vapour chain etc.  Perhaps can only learn spells at half the thieves rank, with some exceptions I imagine.  Or as I stated...remove the spellbook altogether...and add some other thief skills to supplement.  (see idea section, thief revamp etc.)
Maybe Im wrong,...and this is not the best example ...though I am no master thief...and this was no master knight... tried a random situation without the victim knowing, but it seemed a bit overpowered to me to have these spells at my disposal.  Have a couple other crappy example on my other office comp...that didnt even last two rounds.  But they were newbies and in bad situations.  Whats the consensus?

I know, but since he obviously doesn't need any protective spells, camp is the logical solution. Btw, why wasn't the pig mounted?

- Semi-offtopic - Yeah had to blackjack his mount...was trying catch him unmounted from city gate but something I did tipped him off and he got a lil spooked so I had to track him in and out of the inn and eastern road hideouts.  I dont know what I did prolly ate a wafer in the area just as he typed 'where' but added a half hour to my hunt  Sad  What sort of actions not necessarily unhide you but trigger 'someone does something' to the room.  With sneak, a knight cant see "someone enters the room" right? I thought awhile back for some reason if you are invis and sneaking(human) "someone enters" was seen but not when just hidden and sneaking (ill experiment some more)...and I was neutral so no templar sight.
So if Im hidden and invis, someone shouldnt for example be able to see me look at them, scan , where, or who command ..right?
  - Back to Topic -  Anyway...focus people...do we think a thief should be able to harness this type of magic? RP wise, seems this would at the very least anger the tower mages...for stealing the knowledge it takes mages years (in game) to learn in about 3 hours (in game).  Bottom line...my best thought, drop all spells...give them some traps that basically do spell like effects and just a lil skill shimmy and they are fine and hopefully more thief-like.

- lose memorize skil spell
- gain alchemist skill (potions quaffed trigger spell at higher level)
- gain fire bomb trap (area flame/phys attack)
- lose shield block
- gain some dual dagger semi cross-block (devert physical attack but still take half damage)
- lose bash
- gain knockdown (worse version of bash due to it now triggering uber-downstrike)
- make envenom chance for success only possible on knifing or backstab and improve envenom, as in make it seperate from poison or stronger but not stackable.
- steal, loot, pilfer...who knows...current state is not too troubling

Quote
- gain fire bomb trap (area flame/phys attack)
Ability to fire one single fireball every now and then, this is no where near overpower and something I would expect thieves to have already, which means it is pointless to implement as the improvement thieves will gain is pointless. Better make an 'immolation trap' probably better named flash powder trap or vitrol trap (I think thats what the gnomes called it?) single target which continues to burn for some time... maybe some chance to get smoke in your eyes.
Quote
- gain some dual dagger semi cross-block (devert physical attack but still take half damage)
While thieves are able to use any clothing and weapons they can find they need no more blockers... Better to instead improve thieving not as in the skill but in the profession. So, reduce the many things that force from shadows etc. Make what you can steal be dependent on how much weight you can carry, how many hands are free (meaning is thief wielding none, one, or two weapons/shield), how strong you are, whether you are wearing clanking shiny metal, and how heavy the item they steal is.... Gold should be easy to steal, and a lot at a time should your target carry enough.
Quote
- lose bash
Why? Better to allow classes that are better bashers be thieves... it is very 'highway robbery' or such. Much more like a murderous thuggish jump you in the alley and intimidate you kind of  thief... Better to improve on this.. down strike is already strong enough. Thieves should lose bleed...

Better to give envenom and bleed to assassins...

- (firetrap) Well my fire trap idea was suggested as an area effect, possible able to be triggered at will.  The immolation idea is interesting...possibly similiar to a molten iron burn effect..already coded so easier to implement.

- (dual dagger block) Technically their not gaining another block..their losing half a block.  This is an exchange for no shield block...and still take half damage on success.  But agree on some sort of hide modifier in city limits perhaps.  urban stealth or something.  harder to break hide in cities..etc.

- (bash) This doesnt quite describe a thief or an assassin for that matter.
Keywords: 'Bash'
------------------

The bash skill is a warrior talent, a brute-force attack designed to knock
your foe to his knees. Its success depends on many factors, including the
bash rating, your weight, and the size of your opponent. Bashing a dragon
is not generally a wise idea.

Downstrike is very powerful now ..so I suggested a bash alternative that is not only more suited to RP but also to balance downstrike power with a weaker lagger.  A knockdown, perhaps a misleading sidestep, or some type of sneaky hamstring slice that drops them..rather then a 'brute-force attack'.

- (bleed and envenom) Bleed is about the best pk skill of a thief besides backstab, without spells they cannot lose anything...rather will need something to replace.  Envenom is no good for anyone now, assassin has poison dust anyway.

Yep, my poor eyes are not what they used to be. I have an idea of my own: since bj/strangling a mount sounds a bit too much (how can you strangle an elephant or dragon???), both thieves and assassins should be granted "incapacitate mount" or whatever should it be called - a skill that would be equivalent to bj/strangle except it would work against mounts only.

Emotes also should be divided in two types: visual and auditive.
visual emotes are supposed to be unseen by someone who can not see the one who does the emote. Auditive emotes on the other hand can be heard even when one cannot see the one who does it.
Example: Hiding thief raises an eyebrow during a conversation other two people are having. If they do not have detect hidden, they do not see anything.

Now, if hiding assassin hiccups during a conversation of other two, they will see, even if they do not have detect hidden:
Someone hiccups.

It should be like this for emotes, socials, look, scan. Maybe make skills such as awareness more usefull.
Just a thought:
A person without awareness cannot hear someone drinking water when hidding, but a person with hears:
Somone drinks something near you.

- Should just be harder I assume.  For example..you can dirt kick someone mounted ( I hope it is harder somehow) and it shows that you kick the dirt "high" up into their eyes.  Perhaps when someone is mounted...or taller you climb up their mount or jump up on their mount behind them and attempt to strangle/jack them.  But I suppose thats what trip and bash are for..or just get a mount.

p.s. mastering that incapacitate mount would be expensive huh ?
p.p.s someone without detect hidden can see when a hiding person scans and look?

Only if you plan practising it on elephants... Seriously, something needs to be changed - either the emote or the skill(s)...

Last time I played an assassin, if you scanned, you stopped hiding immediately (stepped out of the shadows), which makes little sense to me. And now I am not sure how it is. Sometimes, maybe not with hide, maybe with invisability, or when blinded, you can see:
Someone looks at you,
which also makes little sense to me. If you cannot see, you cannot see him looking.

-  Still breaks hide if you scan with assassin...which is a pain, and worse it breaks hide if you try to strangle someone who is not there, or is mounted and your not.  Yeah if your blind you see someone arrives and it possibly may still occur with an elf or one with sneak arriving when you otherwise wouldnt know (possible bug).  At least should be changed to "You hear someone arrive" if anything at all.

p.s.  Thieves and spells? comments on ideas? anyone  on that stuff?

No use removing shield block, losing offhand damage bonus/extra attacks to wear a shield is huge penalty to damaging, a thief who is solo will not even benefit. (See various logs) A thief with a friend or pet can circle and would probably be better off with no shield anyway. (see logs of Pinda and Ariaste vs Heretics) Shield block is for zones, you want to give them a new blocker AND the extra damage and attacks that come with an offhand weapon - bad.

- If my thief loses the ability to vapour chain someone to convulsing after blackjack wears off there preps, then  hold them with meteor swarm til death (which he shouldnt be able to do)....a couple swipes of a dagger and a half block isnt asking too much to compensate.  No real thief in DL...D&D...NYC or any other abrreviated place would be seen carrying a shield..its just silly.  You talk about how a thief is supposed to steal with hands full..how can he be sneaky or circle with a shield in his hand?  Imagine a new thief without any spellbook and these simple tweaks are not overpower.  Then we will almost have a rogueish character.

- I know it helps...but some go whole life without it.  but still that is ...parry, dodge, my crappy half block idea, and possibly finding deception adds another and no spells.  Where current thief has parry, dodge, shield block, possible deception and vapour chain, meteor swarm, fireballs, etc.  Im actually proposing a thief nerf...when people think Im trying to make them better...if I had the skills I proposed that knight might have had a chance in the log.

p.s. Just got deception...it's a nice touch but doesnt trigger too much. (one fooling miss per 8 rounds-ish so far at 85%)  The changes proposed even with deception wouldnt be overpower I dont think.

p.p.s. They should also get feat choices weapon focus dagger and critical.
