  The trees start to slope down a wooded hill. The ground is covered in
a thick layer of fallen leaves, through which grasses and shrubs grow,
well-fed from the rich, decaying leaves. It is difficult to see the
trail now, but it is still there; a trampled line through the leaves
betrays it. Birds, frogs and crickets sing everywhere, though hardly
any can be seen. Off to the side of the scarcely visible trail, there
is a rather large berry bush.

is. Birds sing quite gaily from the thick branches overhead, secure
in their nests. Frogs and crickets chirp from the thick, luxuriant
green grass. However, to the south, there seems to be a more desolate
sort of feel in the air, and the sounds of large things moving around
in the dead forest floor can be heard.

is not oppressive and gloomy; it's more of a holding sort of
presence, as if the forest were cradling you. Grasses grow quite
high, and the ground is speckled with all colour and variety of
flower. The leaf-strewn path leads north and east.

What happened here is because of 'polymorph other'... and no it doesn't need nerfing cause its easy to avoid.

Other manuals are just as hard to find. Simple offencive form is already powerful. Manticore is even more powerful. I think only all outcast acts give the same effect in damage improvement as manticore form.

I disagree. They are not crap, they are just not overpowered. Very easy to play. And in PK only suck against HIGHLY resisted to physical classes. And manticore with blinding and holding ability is simply great i think. Got it not so long ago myself and am under impression.

Hey, damage mods for alters could be a nice idea, asy to implement. They may imbue their forms to sometimes deal elemental damage, instead of physical.
