should be on and the verb should be changed to retreat.

"rear" means "raise", not "turn your back"...

Nothing wrong with in and flee!

Actually you don't rear the mount, the mount rears itself. Should be 'rein' in. You pull the reins.

So like "You rein in your donkey and flee from combat!"

Actually... I thought that verb 'to rear' refers to 'to caracole' in this context.
