The point is its a staff, how its called doesn't matter
Since you carve hoopaks out of staffs why there is a problem?

Making new weapon class 'sticks' would be proper if names matter in creation of hoopaks

yep, stick is shorter... by half. There is also a thick walking stick in south kalaman forest which cannot be carved into hoopak and I see no one proposing it to be carvable...
