um, I don't get this... the spear might be only good this about newbie life left in solace. I haven't seen any logs of people getting raped by the spear or the dagger, so why downtuning it? why making it limited when there are no people carrying 10 bakali spears in their inventory. Because it is going to happen if you make it limited! Instead of downgrading good items, why not upgrading the bad ones? Basically, by downtuning it, you are not making a balance. Instead, you are making warriors weaker because they are the only ones that benefit from bakali spears.

Cons
1. You cant get it on newbie level without cheating.
2. This way only warriors have benefits, other classes does not have equivalent strong unlimited items.
Pros
1. It helps leveling.
2. It makes life easier.

ps. maybe those items have been introduced in game as bites for quick recognizing, identifying and catching cheaters!

you can get it w/o cheating at level 1, just die and go there in ghost, usually these spears are on the ground
well if there is no spear -- tough luck then, reroll and go for another weapon
and any class with spear skill can benefit from it, not only fighters

and what really needs to be nerfed is malrautin (or how do i spell it) stuff which is insane

leave my bakali spear alone!

- Bakali spear

Dagger will be weaker next reboot.
Fur cloak will be limited next reboot, and changed slightly.
Bakali spear will also be modified slightly.

Note: if you die with limited items that have too many in the realms, the item will vaporize. So please be careful with your spears and cloaks.

If you name specific items, we can change things if it is necessary.
Note that the major problems with the other items listed here is that they are unlimited. This is unacceptable for an average 25 dagger, such as the spider and venom one.

hey, you've already made bakali spear limited so why making futher nerfing? Better make bakalis stronger or spellcasting, and while at nerfing, why don't you nerf all autocasting items ignoring spellbane/sanc, orb from malruthin caverns (or whatever their name is) etc... yeah, dagger is ave 25 and poisonous, but you see from durewn's log how "good" it is in combat... it's even worse against mobs. Also, fur cloaks are a threat to balance because they grant 3 reflex and 3 will and the sting of manticore that ignores saves/resists isn't?

and again: there are still so many crappy items all over mud, on some incredibly hard mobs, and instead on improving them, you downtune basic noob gear?   Undecided

- I wasn't aware that certain autocasting items were completely avoiding spellbane checks. Most autocasting items are built directly into the area files of a zone. The autocasting items that avoid spellbane checks are coded through a different (and obviously broken) method. This is a bug, and is not intentional. In one of the next few reboots, this will be fixed.
- If you know of some overpowered objects that are autocasting and avoiding sanc, please report them, and I can consider changing them. I'm not familiar with the entire object database of Solace, so you will need to name objects directly if you think they need to be changed.
- ... the orb from malrauthin caverns is not an autocasting item.

Bakali equipment comes from mobiles even weaker than merman guards. And the area holding bakali is very easily accessible and is very easy to navigate. At worst, you might claim that these items are "somewhat difficult" to obtain. A similar judgment can be made about the difficulty of obtaining fur cloaks.
Based on the ease with which these are obtained, I think that there is at least some validation in decreasing the power of the objects.

In any case, I certainly do not consider average 25 weapons that are envenomed/acidic-bite to be "basic noob gear".

Moreover, I am not against improving crappy items that are on incredibly hard mobiles. If you want some items changed, please report them. See: http://solace.i-read-you.ru/forum/index.php/topic,3193.0.html

lets compare, say, runed armlets, bloeated bracers and a bracelet of safe passage
how would you range these in terms of the obtainig easiness? should their stats be changed accordingly? what about a stone pendant?

unlimited excellent items that are easy to get are nice, making wonderful stuff for newbies and cheaters.

Shortcoming is, it eliminates magic of choice.
If we add excellent unlimited boots, gloves, arms, bracelets etc.,
large game dimension (hunt for stuff) would be locked.

How many of people who whine, know about 'thornblade' dagger ?
Once it was very good dagger, thieves were eager to get it.
Now it is obsolete. Coated spider venom dagger is better.

i do **demolish** with level 1 mino fajter and mace ave dam 14 Smiley
make dagger mage only  Grin

dagger and spear go limited and no need for fur cloak, anyway first 10 levels are gained fast and after that you can transfer something better than bakali dagger, man!

items are nice, but you need a hell lot of time to get down and get back Tongue (unless ur abjurer)
I didnt notice anything overpowering there (shield from dragon, necklace from guard, frost items in  chest, worm leggings, item from pitlord, etc. are nice but not overpower.) The only exotic i saw is that fireball orb, but you need do a quest with several complications (sigh).
[offtop] which reminded me  to kill Tanis because mob is giving you quest even if they do not have orb, which is opposite from quest from Lorana, for example, which was done nicely, when unicorn necklace is taken, she simply shuts up and doesnt give quest. So you can find yourself wenturing down and up the caves for 3 hours of rl to find out that there' no orb.  Tongue [/offtop], but you can get such items simple by requesting, for example items from dwarf cleric and captain (whose mace by the way is giving 20 saves).
