Anything less than great saves = death, If you died your saves were not great enough!

I'm not an expert, but I've always heard that ideal would be to have 40+ saves. I've always kept that in mind.
This does vary. For example, soften (vs fort) lands very easily. Usually people give preference to some
kind of saves, when they do not have enough equip/abilities to get all three of them, since it is useless to have
20 of all saves. Better to have 40 of one or two of them, and transform the other one into a dump saves...
Usually reflex is the dump stat, I believe, since most combat defining spells check will or fortitude (ex: hold person, sleep, curse.)

Difference in PK is enormous.

No saves usually means something like: sleep, summon to locked area, curse and other maladictions, death.
Or makes you easy target against hold person, polymorph other, and other combat defining spells. Also, I'm
under the impression that damaging spells with chance of stun such as meteor swarm have the chance of stunning
depend somewhat on saves. This is just an impression.

For Heretics, I think that amount of saves defines how effectively spellbane will reflect spells, and how well
Scouts will dodge area spells.

less than 30 = no svs
30+ is ok
40+ well protected

something like that, imo.
