To my mind parry skill should be reworked.

Keywords: 'Parry'

   Block incoming attacks with your weapon. Relies on the difference between your
   and attacker's strength, weapon types, some affects like adrenalin rush.
   If you're in normal or any grade of offensive stance, it goes first:
   parry -> shield block -> dodge.
   If you're in defensive or porcupine stance, it goes after shield block:
   shield block -> parry -> dodge.

Imho now it checks only weapon type and slightly other affects specified in help information.
For example: Jiub wields a spear and Ponyen sword+whip. Maybe Jiub has 100% sword skill, but I'm sure he has 1% whip skill. Ponyen has 100% spear skill.

Jiub with -7 str being slowed in normal stance parried all attacks of opponent who was hasted in fury stance.
I'm not even talking about dodge and feint being paralized with -20 dex (paralize, bleed, slow).

So maybe parry should check your skill in weapon you wear and maybe difference between yours and opponent's skills in this type of weapon. But now even invoker with spear, who doesn't know how to use it, can parry better then fighter in double defence with whips.

I guess i was awed by good parry in some rounds too, but it could be luck (dices), good AC (-550), low hitroll of attacker, spear improves parrying, parry/standoff dependance on str and not dex? If boneshatter, crossslice or other str lowering skill used, i blindly guess it would be much harder to parry.

Bottom line, damage done in hold/slow mode was several times increased than before it, and that matters.

Lets resolve another situation in previous log - hold person success from 4th try against 81 fortitude saves was ok? No complaining on glitch when it is useful

Far as I remember, hold person was very likely a double-roll spell — fort+fort or fort+will probably.
Paralysis was reworked to exclude full-body paralysis (which sucks a lot Grin), but hold seems to be the same.

Saves system feels quite different compared to 20 years ago.
Under the old system saves in the 70s (very hard, if possible, to attain with state-of-the-art gear of the time) would make you close to immune to monster bullsh*t,
now I get routinely blinded/plagued/whatever in just a few attempts.
My guess would be the saves chance after all the number crunching has a lower max cap.

It also got deadlier with the hour-to-minute affect timer transition.
Just like dirt kick turned from a fringe skill to something quite reliable.

You don't know the current moon, his spell power and feats. If you think it's a bug - post in right section.
The most effective set he could take (and therefore my guess) is: penetration, penetration, combat casting.
Thanks to the team effort he likely has full books, so Raistlin's spell enhancer (+1-3).
Staff of Magius (+3)

I would bet on ~43 cumulative spellpower at the moment of the battle, given a good but not perfect moon.
Penetration would probably add *handwaves* another 3.
With old system saving a double-check of a 46-level mob VS 80 saves would be peanuts.

Not a bug, in the same way lash failing against flying enemies is not a bug.
