Keywords: 'Rage of The Mongoose'
-----------------------------------
   Syntax: rage

A powerful strike of a Beast wayfollower that allows an assassin to make a
deadly, rapid attack. The assassin calls upon the animal rage they have been taught to fight with and unleashes it in a single, heated moment.
The cost for this strike is high, both in energy and health, and the
recovery time after the rage can prove fatal to the assassin if they are
in dangerous conditions.

- why does everything have to be a wolverine...is it so ferocious?  My uncle had a wolverine under his porch and he hit with a broom and put it in a burlap sack.  Like a badger with a mean disposition.  Plus wolverine is a druid form so its unoriginal.  I was thinking puma too..but rage doesnt fit with a silent stalker like that.

 Grin Grin Grin Sorryy, drunk

Rage of th mongoose, sorry man i laughing under table... Why not rage of the ferret then?) Basicalyy look at another animals... clawed ones or not.
Wolverine... it not attack with rage in reality... in case of danger it turn it's back to ground and rise her claws awaiting attack... though as all mustelidae (martens class) it have very high pain threshold. And they are small mostly:) Seems only kender beasts can call wolverine's rage (by size surely) Smiley

Why not just Dragon's rage? Make beasts breath fire or acid:)

- I know I know... but rikki tikki tavi was a badass, he has a spot in my heart.  But you get the point I guess ... wolverines are not that threatening unless you mean the ones from "Red Dawn" heh Go capitalism!  Toss the skill totally maybe.  Have a new skill, call it Unleash Fury.

Keywords: "Unleash Fury"
-----------------------------------
   Syntax: unleash

A ferocious strike of a Beast wayfollower that allows an assassin to release a deadly, vicious assault on an enemy.  When provoked enough physically an assassin can channel his pain and unleash it in a single moment of rage.  This attack is chaotic in nature but when successful, great punishment is delivered.  Care should be taken in using this skill as it leaves its user vulnerable for a moment.

Your heart races and your blood begins to boil, You lose control!
You body shakes as it fills will fury and power.  In the blink of an
eye you launch your vicious assault.
Your fury    === OBLITERATES === a young newbie!
A gaping cut is torn across their chest!
You regain consciousness and your eyes focus as your fury receeds.

- you know something like that.  Maybe need to be 50% health to attempt and make it autohit like an offensive spell and let foes reflex saves lessen damage.  Reduce to one single blow and add some bleeding for usefulness.  It strikes like normal attack...possibly triggers find vulnerability and iron strike ability.  maybe?

Kage, an attack with such a description could even place a post-effect on a beastie, such a rage is to be accumulated longer than just a fighting delay, but it can be delayed like a throw instead.
Still, a nice skill, and it finely fits in a beastie's portrait.

-  Yay! someone likes it. True, this could be how this is interpretted I was thinking ac drop or huge loss of moves but all works. If people thought it was overpowered I was even thinking make it a charge skill like sunburst, takes time to channel your fury or whatever.  Whichever makes it balanced right or even combo of these factors.  But definitely something to change ROW to make this skill useable at hero ranks other then on  half crippled, blind knuckleheads or just growing.

I liked the idea also. The name sounds nice. "Unleash fury".
Perhaps make it different when in each style of unarmed combat.
The tiger style could send many weaker blows. The Dragon could do what you wrote down there and do bleeding, and Wyvern could maybe stun the opponent for a while,  and do less damage. I think it would be nice if the fury you unleash is different depending on the style of fighting you assume. Perhaps even varies when in styles coming from manuals?

I agree to changes to the skill's name, but to ask something new would only provoke some old skill to be modified and rendered useless... Beware what you wish for, guys! Sad

From what I know from the biology classes and wildlife programs wolverine is one of the most bloodthirsty animals in the world. They are fearless, not so big, but extremely furious and have no problems in taking down animals 4-5 times their weight, like deer and even baby moose.  There is a book by Rutherford G. Montgomery named Carcajou which describes a life of an average wolverine...

- Smiley
BROOM SKILL SET
Prod - like kender taunt...but only works on wolverines.
Swarp - A combination of swirl and pugil but with swearing

when broom equipped by males
modifies wolverine damage by 20%

when broom equipped by females
modifies housework by 100%

*ducks*
- Perhaps there is some mutant species of wolverine deda...like tabby cats vs tigers.  Or my uncle is a mutant.  This particular one was just a mean badger.  Let druids have wolverines. Tiger, wyvern, dragon...where does wolverine fit in there?

Oh, I was not referring to the skill, I was talking about the animal species and one of my favourite comic/movie characters Cool

Btw, maybe the druids' manual should get its name changed... I'm sorta fond of the name "wolverine"...

p.s.

The wolverine (Gulo) is a stocky and muscular animal, considered carnivorous but known on occasion to eat plant material.[2] It has glossy brown hair with stripes of dull yellow along the sides. Its fur is long and dense and does not retain much water, making it very resistant to frost, which is common in the wolverine's cold habitat. (For these reasons, the fur has been traditionally popular among hunters and trappers as a lining in jackets and parkas, especially for wear in Arctic conditions). The adult wolverine is about the size of a medium dog, with a length usually ranging from 65-87 cm (25-34 inches), a tail of 17-26 cm (7-10 inches), and weight of 10-30 kg (22-66 lb). Males are as much as 30 percent larger than the females. In appearance the wolverine resembles a small bear with a long tail. It has been known to give off a very strong, extremely unpleasant odor, giving rise to the nicknames "skunk bear" and "nasty cat." Wolverines, as other mustelids, possess a special upper molar in the back of the mouth that is rotated 90 degrees, or sideways. This special characteristic allows wolverines to tear off meat from prey or carrion that has been frozen solid and also to crush bones, which enables the wolverine to extract marrow.[3][4]

Behavior

The wolverine is, like most mustelids, remarkably strong for its size. It has been known to kill prey as large as moose, although most typically when these are weakened by winter or caught in snowbanks.[4] Wolverines inhabiting the Old World (specifically, Fennoscandia) are more active hunters than their North American cousins.[5] This may be because competing predator populations are not as dense, making it more practical for the wolverine to hunt for itself than to wait for another animal to make a kill and then try to snatch it.

Armed with powerful jaws and a thick hide,[6] wolverines may defend kills against larger or more numerous predators.[7] There is at least one published account of a 27-pound wolverine's attempt to steal a kill from a much larger predator—namely, a black bear (adult males weigh 400 to 500 pounds). Unfortunately for the mustelid, the bear won what was ultimately a fatal contest, crushing the wolverine's skull.[8][9]

Mating season is in the summer, but the actual implantation of the embryo (blastocyst) in the uterus is stayed until early winter, delaying the development of the fetus. Females will often not produce young if food is scarce. The young (typically three or four) are born in the spring. Kits develop rapidly, reaching adult size within the first year of a lifespan that may reach anywhere from five to (in exceptional individuals) thirteen years.[9]

Adult wolverines have no natural predators, save man, though they do come into conflict with (and may be killed by) other large predators over territory and food. Juveniles are, unsurprisingly, more vulnerable and infants (kits) have been known on occasion to be taken by predatory birds, such as eagles.[10]

Ponder the bolded sentences...

- still not impressed...if I was a big grass eating deer I would be afraid.  as I am afraid of medium sized dogs as well sometimes...but for me a human male 6' 200lbs to turn into a 22-66 lb meal stealer is not so terrifying, Ill take my chances in human form and my karate experience from bruce lee films. Seems the claws could only reach knee caps of a foe.

Was that wolverine tame or wild? Did he belong to your uncle? Damn it man, you try to fell a 2000 lbs moose with your teeth, fists and bruce lee imitations. If you manage to do that,  I'll write a letter to Marvel DC Comics saying that Wolverine is a pussy! Cool

I think the problem is that an actual shapeshift takes place. Because Rage of the Wolverine acknowledges that wolverines, for their relatively small size, are utterly ferocious. So transforming completely into one doesn't make sense, but utilizing their rage does.

- this brings up a good point.  Rage of the wolverine does transform you...whereas the traits of the the large ferret are all that would be useful anyway.  But anyway...fury from within is quite more relatable in the harsh environment of solace then the rage from a moose killer.

Perhaps the text should go like: "You reach for the beast within and release its fury..." without any transformation?
